I am excited to start writing this blog. For starters, it got me to reading other
diabetic blogs, which I hadn’t really done before. I have had diabetes since 1993 and have felt
pretty alone with the disease. Sure, I went
to diabetic camp when I was younger (Camp Jordan in Virginia) but I was so
young at the time that I got extremely homesick and didn’t stay the full two
weeks. But otherwise, I have met some
type one diabetics here and there but never really had a connection where I
could talk about all the joys and annoyances-that is until I started to read
some blogs. I hope that this blog will
be a good way for people to find someone to relate to and maybe get some advice
or read about what not to do.
A little bit about me:
I was diagnosed back in December of 1993. It’s surreal to think I have almost had this
disease for 20 years. I got my insulin
pump back in 1997 and this past year (November 2011) received the continuous
glucose monitor (CGM). I have a love/hate
relationship with my CGM. I have been
married for a little over a year and my husband has been a huge support in
getting my diabetes under control.
